What does good design mean to you?

Good Design needs to be unique & beautiful but importantly needs to be practical and suited to everyday living and in most cases the daily demands of family life. The flow of space throughout a home is essential and good design should create a natural flow from room to room whilst incorporating unique one-off pieces in order to make a house a home.

What do you think makes a good interior designer?

The collaboration, trust and mutual respect in building up an excellent relationship between a client and designer is imperative. You are privy to the inner workings of clients’ lives and spend so many hours, days, months and in some cases years collaborating that an excellent as well as a fun working relationship is so important. This in turn helps a designer fully understand a brief and enables a flexible and open approach throughout the design process.

What are the most important features when designing a space?

Taking into consideration natural light, the flow of spaces and the function of rooms and zoning areas in larger more open plan spaces to create sociable, inviting and practical spaces.

What is the one thing every home should have?

A hub of a home is really crucial – a place to gather, socialise, be comfortable and enjoy the space whilst surrounded by varied textures, colours and beautiful pieces.

There are so many fabulous suppliers out there, combining them, knowing what to use from where and in what project is a hard task! What is about Julian Chichester that draws you in?

We do use hundreds of suppliers but our go-to for unique and beautiful, bespoke pieces is Julian Chichester. We love the quality and choice of colours and finishes available. The stylish and beautiful designs go hand in hand with our ethos to create unique and inspiring spaces and the team at Julian Chichester always go the extra mile to help us tailor their collection to our specific and bespoke designs.
