Julian Chichester has consistently been at the forefront of the interior design industry, introducing many new materials into the domestic market. These include specialist finishing techniques such as verre eglomise, faux shagreen, vellum and parchment, gesso, brass wrapping, cerused oak, nickel plated brass  – the range and variety of hand finishing and craft skills is extensive and constantly evolving. The skill of mixing different textures and materials on individual pieces of furniture give depth and dimension to all our designs. Our development of faux finishes allows us to colour and reinterpret classic concepts for a contemporary market, preserving the authentic look and application without putting pressure onto limited natural resources. Hand crafted items can include specialist paint finishes, wrapping in fine saddle stitched leather or covering in brass. Having our own factory enables us to achieve finishes and  bespoke specialisation, from design through to completion, often unavailable through other manufacturers.
